Theme: “Love Is A Battlefield”
The frigid temperatures could NOT freeze out the singers and cabaret enthusiasts who descended on Etc Etc on Sunday night!
Our Co-Host was MAC Award Nominee Jamie Salzano! Jamie was nominated for her critically acclaimed debut cabaret show STARDUST AND OTHER SPARKLY THINGS… and recently participated in The 60 Hour Record Breaking Cabaret Show at The Metropolitan Room. For more information, you can find Jamie on Facebook.
To kick off the evening Jamie sang a sweet, welcoming, “Tear Up The Town.” For her mid-show set she started with “Let’s Fall In Love” then followed with a sassy and sultry “All About That Bass.” She closed the set with a touching. “I’ll Be Okay.” To end the evening, Jamie sang an all-too-true and very moving, “You Learn.” All sings were accompanied (on piano and occasional vocals) by Rick Jensen.

Our Salon Spotlight featured MAC Award Nominee Dawn Derow & MAC and 2-Time Emmy Award Nominee Kathleen France! Dawn & Kathleen return to The Duplex - 61 Christopher St, NYC 10014 – in REVOLUTION February 22nd & March 15th. Both shows at 6:30pm. For more information: www.dawnderow.com / www.kathleenfrance.com
For their set they started with a powerful arrangement of “For What It’s Worth” 9which got the crowd singing with a call and response. Following that, Dawn and Kathleen were joined by Andrew Sotomayor (on piano and voice) in an a capella “Civil War Medley” - I won’t give away the songs but its probably the only time the North and South were mashed in peace! For the final song of their set they sang a mashup of 1960s/70s/80s war songs - see their show to find out which songs made the cut!

Quick Wrap: Classical Corner
Mark started Classical Corner by talking about a last minute inspiration for tonight’s segment. Someone messaged Mark today on Facebook about his days at Rice University in Texas, and he was reminded of conducting Tchaikovsky’s Romeo & Juliet. The sweeping overture highlights the beauty of this iconic romantic battlefield, so he invited Matthew Martin Ward to the piano to play the 4-handed overture for the salivating crowd. It was breathtaking!
