The Salon Wrap-Up for February 21, 2016 - "Next – Letting Go Of The Past & Embracing The Future"

It was unseasonably warm with some wet sprinkles Sunday evening, so a packed crowd came into Salon with a little early spring in their step, sparkling with dew. It was downright poetic!

Mark Janas is still performing in "Broadway and the Bard" with Len Cariou and couldn't stay for the entire evening, so he got a chance to sit in the audience for our first set. With Mark on hiatus, our amazing Guest Host/Pianist was the 5-Time MAC, 2-Time Bistro & 2-Time Glama Award Winner Rick Jensen! Rick’s compositions have been recorded by Lee Lessack, Lina Koutrakos and the late Nancy Lamott to name a few. He is also frequently found musical directing, accompanying, arranging and producing for a number of Musical Theatre and Cabaret luminaries including Jason Graae, Liz Callaway, Barbara Fasano, Jeanne MacDonald and Tovah Feldshuh. Guest Host Rick Jensen
Our Co-Host was the amazingly talented composer and performer, Scott Evan Davis, with special guests Susan Winter, Joshua Dixon, Erik Sisco & Natalie Arneson singing Scott’s songs! To kick off the evening, Scott started at the piano and invited up Joshua Dixon and Natalie Arneson to sing the inspiring first song off his new album, Next, called "Take On The World." Scott followed that by inviting up Erik Sisco to sing "Someone Else's Eyes." For his mid-show set, he started by singing and playing his song, the delicate and stunning, "Before I Forget." He then invited Susan Winter to join him on the stage to sing the song, "Save Me The Rose." The set was completed with Joshua Dixon singing the CD's title track, "Next."

Co-Host Scott Evan Davis!
Scott’s upcoming CD "NEXT" - featuring Karen Mason and Robert Cuccioli - will be officially released on March 2nd, with a listening party at The Duplex – 61 Christopher St, NYC 10014 – February 28th at 4pm. For more information: www.scottevandavis.com.

Quick Wrap: Rick's Corner

To kick off Rick's corner, Rick gave us, a lovely ballad, and then launched a hilarious story about being from Minnesota with the refrain, "Heigh Ho, That's The German Way." This amazing song was punctuated with fun facts from his life (including the fact that he wasn't actually German, but actually a closeted Scandinavian!) He finished with a song that he wrote in the 90s and was recorded by Nancy Lamott (which he heard on the radio today, played by Jonathan Schwartz!) We were so thrilled to have Rick and his amazing storytelling with us tonight!
